While I was working with the doll for the Women series, I started the self-portrait series Grid in 1999.

The reflected body language makes the series more direct than Women. The use of the grid element in the background and foreground blurs the real and introduces aspects of subjective emotional realities and illusions as additional content.

I created this series by leaving the camera lens open, running into the image, taking the pose, and then running back out again. As a result, all of the objects in the picture are solid and I am less solid, which produces the effect of overlapping and fusing.
